Tackling Environmental Crimes through standardised Methodologies (TECUM)

General Objective

Enhance interagency cooperation in investigating and fighting illicit waste trafficking and related incremental forms of environmental crime, focusing on the organized crime dimension of this phenomenon.

Specific Objectives

SO1. To strengthen the operational and strategic capacities of European Police Services to investigate trafficking in illicit waste and other related environmental crimes (in particular their organized crime dimension), gathering and analyzing the results of the European Joint Police Operation (JPO) conducted in 2014 for the definition of best practices.

SO2. To integrate an environmental crime dimension in “general” Organized Crime investigations, supporting improved effectiveness in early identification and fight against this phenomenon.

SO3. Raising institutional awareness on Environmental Crime, including its evolutionary forms (including CBRN waste disposal and trafficking).

SO4. Support the planning and the conduct of a major European JPO on environmental crime (following the one implemented in November 2014), open to the participation of “third countries”.
