Support to the Implementation of the Government Policy on Regional Development

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the process of rationalisation and restructuring of public administrations, to improve public governance and to assist in implementing sounder public expenditure management, including government transfers from the central to the regional/local level.


The specific objective of the project is to improve and strengthen the planning and governance capabilities of the local authorities, to improve operational cooperation with those central services in charge of local development and ensure optimal contribution to the implementation process of the Government’s Policy on Regional Development by the local Akimats, involving a broad spectrum of local society.  Also to provide the Department for Regional Policy with European consultancy on EU regional policy and urban rehabilitation.


 


The project will also evaluate the regional potential for development and suggest measures to its implement, by transferring know-how on how to strengthen commitment of local authorities in the economic development  process
