Implementation of the New Serbian Code of Criminal Procedure

Overall objective:

The project aims at improving the capacity, effectiveness, efficiency and fairness of the Criminal Justice system of Serbia in prosecuting and adjudicating court cases under the new Criminal Procedure Code.

The Serbian Government is with the implementation of the New Serbian Code of Criminal Procedure harmonising the Justice Sector according to EU’s legislation, administrative and control systems.

The project connects the Serbian entities involved in carrying out the New Serbian Code of Criminal Procedure: Judicial Academy, EUD, SEIO, CFCU, the State Prosecutorial Council, the High Judicial Council, The Republic Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Supreme court of Cassation, the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration.

 

Specific objective:

·         Support the implementation of the CPC by having well prepared judges, prosecutors, police and defence attorneys.

·         Support an efficient and fair administration of Criminal Justice

·         Support involvement of the civil society

·         Support awareness of witnesses’ and victims’ rights
