EU Assessment and Evaluation Mission to the ASEAN-Region in the Field of Counter-Terrorism

The main objective of the project was to promote the regional co-operation within the ASEAN group of nations in the implementation of their obligations under UNSCR 1373. 
 
The main tasks included: 


  • Identification of the networks and regional organisations which have a role in addressing the fight against terrorist financing;

  • Strengthening co-operation in the field of border-management, anti-corruption and combating money laundering;

  • Assessment of the short-and medium-term needs to build the capacity of such networks and organisations;

  • Monitoring and evaluation of the administration of border management at regional level;

  • Examining related initiatives from the EC, EU Member States, USA donors (e.g. ADB, WB) that promote or could promote regional approaches;

  • Legal and administrative structures and capacities to enable effective identification, tracking and seizing of funds and evidence; and Financial investigation and analysis expertise related to anti-corruption and money laundering.
