Senior Export Consultant in the Chemical Sector
  • Description of post: Scope of Work Phases and Tasks:

    This scope of work includes the tasks for a senior export and product development consultant in the area of export development and readiness, to work with a number of enterprises within JADEs’ SMEs Development Support Program. The consultant responsibility is to manage, execute, monitor and report on the below phases/tasks to JADE project manager, in close collaboration with the project partners located in Brussels Belgium.

    Diagnosis Phase: Analyze needs of the SME and match between them and EU buyers/suppliers

    Review the initial and full diagnosis reports conducted by JADE, and prepare the following:
    Product development plan. Specify what is required to upgrade their primary products to be exported to the EU (e.g. packaging, design, certifications, material, etc.). The product development plan should include, but not limited to the following:
    Identify related specific needs, priorities, and requirements per each sector and per each enterprise.
    Identify EU market access (sales channels) and Market Entry Requirements for their products (e.g. product development and labelling)
    Identify major remedies and technical assistance required to address weaknesses in their products and enhance readiness, with clear timeline and budget and provide guidelines on the best approach to address these actions as possible.
    Identify major buyers/suppliers interested in the Jordanian SME products
    Facilitate at least 1 B2B meeting per SME with an EU buyer/supplier
    Validate the willingness, capabilities, readiness and commitment of the targeted enterprises to export to the EU.

    Reporting Phase: Final report to include recommendations and lessons learned

    Develop the overall analysis report for JADE to include the following:
    Detailed report that includes key strengths and weaknesses, along with key observations and findings for each SME.
    Discuss final reports with JADE team to agree on the main findings and nature of the technical assistance needed for the enterprises.
    The senior export consultant is required to lead the communication and coordination with the JADE and the project partners in the EU and share together the information related to the potential exporters and their product offering and the market information to match between Jordanian SMEs and EU buyer/suppliers.
  • Qualifications: Qualifications:

    A bachelor’s degree in international trade, business marketing, economics, international business, industrial engineering or a degree equivalent to that. A well-recognized qualification in marketing will be an added advantage.
    Excellent communication skills, reporting, and writing skills.
    Fully proficient in software packages (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
    Fluency in English Languages is required, additional EU languages such as French, German, Italian, Spanish is a plus.

    General Professional Experience:

    At least 10 years of demonstrated industrial sector practical experience, including an understanding of the importance of production processes for exporters, quality, standards and other requirements as well as and rules of origin, a great practical experience in Chemicals sector is a plus.

    Specific Professional Experience:

    In particular, at least 5 years of experience in services trade including issues related to harmonization and recognition of market access.
    Familiar with the national trade policies/agreements, requirements and limitations.
    Has strong trade support network locally and externally in targeted markets in the EU.
    Excellent understanding of the needs of small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs).
    Strong experience in export development and strategies.
    Ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders.
    Excellent report writing skills, including the ability to synthesize ideas and present these in a clear and consistent manner understandable to non-specialist stakeholders.
    Previous work experience with Government agencies and/or donor-funded projects will be considered as an asset.
