LIBYA | SECURITY | EULEAD support to COVID19 response

In the frame of the project “EU Libya Expertise, Analysis and Deployment (EULEAD)” our team continues to support the response to COVID19 in Libya.

After providing 10.000€ worth of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), EULEAD arranged for two trainers from the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) Tripoli to go to the South of Libya for a week, to train the Rapid Response Teams.

15 Rapid Response Teams’ staff have been trained were trained on case definition, laboratory procedures, samples, planning, management and reporting. The trainees were explained how to maintain proper handling and storage conditions, to avoid overstocking and or unnecessary expiration of materials before utilisation, review of the standard operating procedures.

In addition, a series of field visits were conducted in several cities of the South to evaluate the capacities of local health facilities and to provide advice and support in the management of COVID19 cases.

To cover the activity, the NCDC communication team produced a video, thanks to the other trainings provided by EULEAD. The video is available online and on Youtube.

This activity received a very positive feedback from the director of NCDC Sabha d who highlighted that the training showed the effectiveness and feasibility of coordinating efforts between local health authorities, central ones, NGOs and international support. Similar support may be provided in the future.
