LEBANON | Update on current situation in Beirut

On 5 August 2020, a massive explosion rocked Beirut, Lebanon, leaving behind significant casualties and shocking images of the blast. In the past two days, we have been in close contact with our staff and experts based in Beirut, assisting them and providing support as needed. We are happy to inform that all our staff and experts are now in good conditions, safely resuming their activity. One collaborator was unfortunately injured in the blast and is now receiving treatment.

We are currently working on the emergency response with the CBRN National Commission and first responders by conducting air sampling and analysis in the Beirut area affected by the explosion. For sampling, the CBRN Lebanese Armed Forced is using Hapsite, a mobile system for detecting the presence of toxic chemicals and chemical agents.

We continue to closely monitor the situation and work with the authorities involved in the emergency response.

We remain in solidarity and ready to support Beirut’s recovery. Our hearts go out to our colleagues, experts, and the Lebanese people in this challenging time.
