THE EU FUNDED PROJECT “SUPPORT TO FREE LEGAL PROFESSIONS AND THE BAR ASSOCIATION” IN KOSOVO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SERIES OF TRAINING SESSIONS IN THE NORTH OF MITROVICA, GRACANICA AND PRISTINA
Last week, in North Mitrovica, the EU Funded Project “Support to Free Legal Professions and the Bar Association” (the Project), implemented by a consortium led by B&S Europe successfully completed the implementation of series of training sessions for the North for the target groups -law students and law graduates from Serbian minority and other minorities in Kosovo.
There were participants from different regions in Kosovo: the regions of North Mitrovica, Pristina, Gracanica, Giljan, Strpce. The trainings were conducted in the period 4th of June 2018 - 28th of June 2018 in North Mitrovica, Pristina and Gracanica.
The main objective of these training sessions was to support the preparation of the participants for one or more of the following 4 state exams in Kosovo: i) the Jurisprudence Exam, ii) the Ethics Exam at Kosovo Bar Association, iii) the Notary Exam and iv) the Exam for Private Enforcement Agents. In the long-term perspective the trainings aim also at improving the access of the target groups to the professions of advocates, notaries and private enforcement agents in Kosovo.
The Project used innovative approach, namely: for greater synergy and since some of the training topics are common for some of the exams, the trainings were organized and conducted in a manner that allows the participants to the extent possible to i) prepare in some cases for subjects for at least two of the exams for the above FLPs, or to ii) prepare in other cases for subjects only for the specific exam, i.e. the Jurisprudence Exam, the Notary Exam or the Ethics Exam.
During the last session in North Mitrovica yesterday, all participants were provided with a Certificate of Completion and some other important documents such as the Manual for the Jurisprudence Exam and numerous Kosovo laws in Serbian Language.
The trainings were organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, the Kosovo Bar Association, the Notary Chamber and the Chamber of Private Enforcement Agents of Kosovo. In terms of the organizational and logistical aspects, the consortium was professionally supported by Kosovo Training Institute.
This is the first EU Technical Assistance Project in Kosovo with activities in the North. The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the efficiency of the judiciary by strengthening free legal professions and the Bar Association. The purpose of this project is to fully functionalize the system of free legal professions by strengthening the Ministry of Justice Department for Free Legal Professions and the capacities of free legal professions and the Bar Association. The project is aimed also at improving the access of non-majority communities in Kosovo to the Free Legal Professions.
