Jamaica : High level meeting to discuss the future of Caribbean-EU partnership
Today in Kingston (Jamaica), Commissioner Mimica is co-hosting with Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, Jamaican MFA, a high level meeting to exchange views on the content and the structure of the future Caribbean-EU partnership foreseen by the agreed framework of the Post-Cotonou Agreement.
This meeting's main objectives is to gather views and seek political consensus on structure and contents of the Caribbean pillar as well as to convey the message that the relations between the EU and the Caribbean region remain high in the agenda and will profit from a strengthened, tailor-made political relation, as foreseen within the Post-Cotonou framework.
Today two signing ceremonies took place as well:
- The Signing of an Agreement for Funding of a Forestry Project between Jamaica and the European Union (Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Jamaica and Mr. Neven Mimica, Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development and Chief Negotiator, European Commission)
- The Signing Ceremony - 11th EDF Caribbean Regional Financing Agreements (H. E. Irwin Larocque, CARICOM Secretary-General and Mr. Neven Mimica, Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development and Chief Negotiator, European Commission)
